You are expected from us to see a ‘Match of the Week’, but since the corona-sports-summer calendar is so packed we are increasing our pace as well! So instead of weekly updates, we are handing out daily betting predictions! Even though we can’t be there to shout, we are still the crowd. And by placing a small bet, you can simulate the euphoria of the stadium.

Today we have a special match: Manchester City versus Arsenal. Guardiola has an excellent record against the Gunners, but the Citizens have hardly anything to win or to lose. Will the blue side of Manchester come out of the corona crisis motivated enough to finish the season in style? Losing to Arsenal means that Liverpool is virtually taking over the champion title. Perhaps, there is still hope with the squad for a miracle?

Just a few years ago, this match would have been nothing less than a duel of giants. Manchester City still is a giant, though it’s aura of invincibility has faded. Arsenal on the other hand has fallen and has fallen deep. Firing the manager did not spark the team as many had hoped.

Arsenal is a team without a shred of confidence, having its worst streak since 1977 with one win in ten games. Interim-manager Fredrik Ljungberg said after a 1-2 loss against Brighton & Hove Albion that his team was completely lost: ‘In the first half half they were all afraid to receive the ball and no one dared to move. Everyone froze.’

Against West Ham Arsenal again started poorly, but they turned things around in the second half. Winning 1-3. Could this be the beginning of a turn? If it is, winning against Manchester City will definitely give a confidence boost that will last until the end of the season.

Arsenal is desperate for a win streak to regain some faith in themselves. Enter Manchester City. A team that, despite not having their best form, has won more than almost any other team in PL history.

Going over the figures

Manchester City is currently 25 points behind on Liverpool and had a bad streak prior to the shutdown against Tottenham and their rivals, Manchester United. Despite a possible form dip, the track record against Arsenal is one that makes the Gunners shiver: a six win streak for Manchester City with netting seventeen goals, while conceding not more than two. It is worth noting that five out of six of these games had over 2.5 goals.

Manchester City

Pep Guardiola’s team was considered the best in the world just a few months ago by many. Recently they have even lost the status of being the best in the city by losing to United. What happened? Guardiola admits his team isn’t at the level it should be to compete with the best in the world. Opponents adapt, football moves forward and for Manchester City to become the all winning team again, they have to move forward. Being exceptionally good simply isn’t good enough anymore. As crazy as that may sound.

Manchester City Arsenal Betting Predictions

Things have changed though. Mikel Arteta took over as head coach in December and has putten in some impressive results. The former assistant coach of Pep is now facing his former employee and mentor for the first time. There is a lot at stake for Arsenal as they want an end sprint towards Champions League football and they need every point. Winning wednesday would make Mikel an instant cult figure. It is not only the tactic genius that is Guardiola that Arsenal has to beat though, Sergio Aguero has a record of netting seven goals in eight matches against Arsenal and won’t be planning to leave it at that.

A crucial duel

This duel could go as many expect with Manchester City winning this. If, on the other hand, Arsenal manages to win this, this will have large effects on the rest of the season. The title will definitely be out of sight for City and the Gunners will rise from the grave to attack the top five. A difficult match to bet on, but a great match to watch!
